hotrod59f100 Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 (edited) In the background ther is a red pick up truck and a cream colored truck . Id like to know what each is. They were my uncles but through family issues won't talk to most the family . But I'd like to build most of the vehicles that I remember in my child hood or through family pics. Btw I'm the ugly one on the Yamaha back in 91. Edited March 27, 2012 by hotrod59f100
Casey Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 (edited) The cream colored pickup looks like a '79-'83 Toyota pickup, very similar to this one, but it doesn't appear to have the tailgate latch hooks on the bed ends, so it's probably an '81(?)-'83: Edited March 27, 2012 by Casey
VW Dave Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 I was gonna say Toyota for both, based on the bed rail shape, although dating them is not my bag.
hotrod59f100 Posted March 27, 2012 Author Posted March 27, 2012 Cool . I guess I have something to start with.
Casey Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Revell and AMT both made snap-together versions of the '79-'83 Toyota 4x4 pickups, though I think both are the '79-'80 round headlight variety.
hotrod59f100 Posted March 28, 2012 Author Posted March 28, 2012 I have a parts revell . I need just a few parts but I guess it's not easy to find people that have parts I need.
Casey Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I think you'd be better off buying an unbuilt, complete kit to be honest. I've looked over the AMT kit and it looked slightly better to me, containing a few more parts.
hotrod59f100 Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 I planed to soon . I appreciate the help.
mcandela Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Red one looks like a 70's ford Courier or maybe a 70's mazda.
hotrod59f100 Posted March 30, 2012 Author Posted March 30, 2012 Red one looks like a 70's ford Courier or maybe a 70's mazda. I thought that. Does that red ones bed look like a job site bed?
sports850 Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 (edited) I'd say late 70's Ford Courier for the red one as well , the Mazda B1800 (or was it 1600 ?) had a different looking grille down here at least and I think that one's the ford grille . EDIT > I'm thinking perhaps a fiberglasss canopy on the back of it as well . Edited March 30, 2012 by sports850
imatt88 Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 On the red one, I was leaning toward a Ford Courier as well. The side mirror sure looks like the ones we had on our base taxi when I was in the Air Force. plus the grill, just looks like a Ford to me HTH, Cheers, Ian
The Creative Explorer Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 For the red one, I think it is Japanese, leaning on a Datsun or Mazda. It is definatelly not a VW Caddy, it is too high and too big for that one.
The Creative Explorer Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 It can also be a Isuzu, which has the windscreen shape I was looking for
hotrod59f100 Posted April 1, 2012 Author Posted April 1, 2012 I was hoping it was a courier . I have a extra kit of that. If my memory wasn't all the Japanese small trucks also rebadge here. Lik Mazda and ford. Chevy and isuzu ,dodge and Mitsubishi ?
