old-hermit Posted June 23, 2007 Posted June 23, 2007 Since I mostly build large scale I needed a place to display my stuff. I've been collecting odd's & ends for a garage dio for over a year and think I finally have enough. I was given some lumber and sheetrock this week so I decided to start the project. It's 4 ft X 8 ft with scale 12 ft walls. I bought some OSB for wall framing and cut door & window openings. The walls will be covered with scale pine siding for a rustic look. The interior floor will be concrete grey and the street will be simulated asphalt or gravel. Here's a pic of what I've done so far.

Barbo Posted June 29, 2007 Posted June 29, 2007 Hi..old-hermit..I like this last photo of the interior paneling , I can see at the open door of the model a full scale structure , makes the model look real.....Barbo.
old-hermit Posted June 29, 2007 Author Posted June 29, 2007 That's my house Barbo. I'm building the dio in my garage. I made a sign and got bored waiting for glue to dry so I did an interior mock up. Still LOT'S to do.
old-hermit Posted July 6, 2007 Author Posted July 6, 2007 I have no patience so I put both unfinished models in front of the unfinished diorama just to see how they would look.
Barbo Posted July 7, 2007 Posted July 7, 2007 I do the same , old-hermit......it helps to see whats going on , from this point you can do changes on time...........keep up the great work............Barbo.

old-hermit Posted July 29, 2007 Author Posted July 29, 2007 Nice start. Where did you get the motorcycle and what kit is it? Am I right to assume this is 1/8 scale? Marc The bike is a diecast Vance & Hines Top Fuel drag bike. Yessir, it's all 1/8th. I still have a lot of trim and detail work to do but it's coming along. Here's the front with a couple more bikes.

RMurphy Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 [Where did you get the delivery and the pick-up bodies? Is the chopped T a Lindberg or is it resin? If it's resin, where did it come from? Great dio. My wife would cut off both my hands, if she saw me starting something that size. You are doing one heck of a job yours though. Keep the progress pictures coming. REX quote name='framescr8pintoy' date='Sep 2 2007, 02:37 AM' post='47520'] where did you get the huge tool boxes along the backwall from?
old-hermit Posted September 2, 2007 Author Posted September 2, 2007 (edited) Where did you get the delivery and the pick-up bodies? where did you get the huge tool boxes along the backwall from? Thanks for all the compliments guys. It's been fun doing this. I like to see your's Neal, please post the pics. The tool boxes are Snap-on promos. Got them from evil bay. The pick up body was scratch built by me starting with a resin cowl. The chopped T and delivery I built using a Big T and Big Tub body as a base then added the sides and roof. Here's how I did it pics of all three http://s39.photobucket.com/albums/e161/old...0Scale/Wrecker/ http://s39.photobucket.com/albums/e161/old...haser/?start=20 http://s39.photobucket.com/albums/e161/old...y%20T/?start=20 Edited September 2, 2007 by old-hermit

old-hermit Posted January 30, 2008 Author Posted January 30, 2008 Found some more great stuff for my "Never Ending Diorama". First, every garage needs a trash can. Got this at a Georgia WM landfill. Then I got some beer cans & whiskey bottles today. Gonna scatter them around the trash can. The antique glass door knobs will be great shift knobs.
Barbo Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Hi.......Great garbage dispenser............the color does a good plastic look ...........''Above and Beyond''............Barbo
