Its going to be a project I start in the next few weeks or so, andI had a question. Wasn't sure to put it here or in the Ref. Pictures area so my apologies.

I've seen many photos of the 98 trans am with normal aluminum wheels but very few with the factory chrome. Does anyone know which was more common for this particular car? Thanks.

From doing a quick Google image search, it seems to be about a 50-50 split. So if you're thinking of building it, I'd say just go with whichever you think looks better.

All the TA's came with silver painted rims and chrome was optional. Base TA's with the flat hood had 16"s and Firehawk and WS6 cars all came with 17's. So its entirely up to you which you like better. I had a 2000 SS I ordered new and left the chrome option off. I thought the 4th gen F-bodies look better without the chrome wheels but its up to you niether is more correct than the other.

Oh right on thanks Jeff. when i first did this kit back in high school i did it silver, and left the chrome on i'm thinking of aluminum wheels this time. I was considering the purple color that they dumped early on in production

Upon further review I think i'll do it as a 99 Anniversary. I can do the decals on the inkjet, they come with white background which will work in this situation. Body and headrests are white. Just have to figure out how to simulate the blue on the wheels..

The purple would look cool and is a very rare color. The aniversary edition had white seats front and rear and the door panels had white leather inserts on them too. Or you could go with the yellow and black ce that had black rims with an aluminum lip.

Best way would be keep them chrome, mask off the lip, and use an anodized-blue, or transparent blue, spray paint. Then if you want, you could make the center cap decals.
