Kaleb Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 (edited) Ive been searching for this and I also posted about this earlier. I've found factory colors for this and I have a close color for that. It's for a 69 nova yenko. I've been looking for the starter I mostly have found them to be a brass and aluminum color. As for the coil I'll keep looking as well for the smog pump. What I'm having trouble with is the primer and chassis. Is it overspray? Or just primer? The closest primer I could find is a ruddy brown. Thank you for those that have given me some places to look. And thank you in advance for your help. Edited April 12, 2012 by Kaleb
MrObsessive Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Kaleb, it was a little bit of both. Back in the '60's, before automated paint systems, your average Joe painted the bodies and chassis (actually unit bodies for '69 Novas) as they came down the line. It wasn't overdone, but there more than likely was some paint overspray on the very sides on the car, as well as some in the wheelwells. This was especially the case with cars that were meant for places other than the rust belt. Of course, it would vary from car to car............but some of the GM iron of that vintage I've seen, did have some overspray. The reddish brown you mentioned was used back then by GM............although depending on what was going on in the factory that day, it could have been gray as well. Now trying to find pics of a '69 Nova with the original paint and overspray---------that can be a tad difficult!
