jonno356SC Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Hi all, Curious. I don't have huge experience with body decals. When do you cut them to match a door line etc? Do you apply the decal, add setting solution, wait until it dries then cut it? Do you cut it before you actually apply it? Thanks! Jon
vintagestang Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I'm like you I don't have much experience either but it would be best to cut after you apply them because if you cut them befor you might nnot get them to match up to the panel lines.
Agent G Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I usually do not cut the panel lines unless the decal refuses to lay down. If I must cut I will do it while on the model. These are good quality decals and settled in perfectly around the doors. Where I did make a cut was over the front wheel well. A compound curve prevented the decal from conforming correctly and solvent would not help. The decal was carefully sliced, and it then overlapped itself for a correct fit. G
rickd13 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I apply the decal with water and Micro Sol and I gently try to work the decal into the panel line with a smal soft paint brush dipped in Micro Sol and then I let it dry. After it dries, I apply some Micro Sol over the panel line so it softens up in that spot and then I very carefully cut it with a #11 blade.
