Does anybody know whether anybody has made a model kit of this ship? I would ike to build one for my wife's family since her great-granmother came over to this country on this ship. All I have been able to find is assembled models at a big price.

Any help?

Nope... those custom builts are all you're going to find for the Aquitania. Really not much out there in the way of Transatlantic passenger liners in kit form, other than the more well-known ships.

Depending on how crazy you want to get with detail, a Titanic kit might be a good starting point. The dimensions of the Aquitania and the Titanic were pretty close, and at the typical scale of 1/500 or so, the difference would be hardly noticeable at all.

I've got the Triang (missing masts), and have been looking a long time for a larger one without luck.

My father served in the Royal Navy on her during the war, and would love to get a better version.

If you're keen, you could also check out an Airfix kit of the RMS Mauretania.

It's also a 4 stacker, and could be converted to the Aquitania.

The Mauretania was a "sister" to the Aquitania, but is over a hundred feet shorter. Mauretania is also 10' narrower, but that won't show. The real problem is the difference between the two ships' lengths and superstructures. It would take two Mauretania kits, which while are somewhat rare, are availlable. Dave's Drydock on Ebay usually has an Aquitania blueprint available for around $15.

Yeah, the Mauretania is quite a bit different in the hull as well. So cancel that suggestion.

There is a nice looking Aquitania model on ebay at the moment.

Looks nice, but too big for me at 800mm long.

Looks like the seller got the photo's mixed up, as there are some of the Lusitania there as well.

Thanks guys. I do not know what to do so I will hold off for now. I have enough models in the pile to work on in the meantime.
