JMD904 Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 I always thought the old school pull knob grille was cool. Its when a customizer took old "pull style" knobs commonly seen on drawers and cabinet doors were added to a grille. How could I replicate this on a 1:24/25th model?
LDO Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Or get some plastic rivets. You can get lots of different sizes from Tichy Train Group. If you want chrome, go with Cranky's idea and use push pins. Just get wire cutters and snip to length.
Foxer Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Good ideas. If you want to make yourself crazy you could make them with a plastic punch like the one from Micro-Mark and some small rod.
crazyjim Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 I used some metal mesh I had laying around and painted it flat black. Pins were inserted in telephone insulation wire, through the mesh and another piece of insulation on the other end with some CA glue to hold it in place. These pics might help.
Mercman Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 (edited) If you do the pin thing make sure you get Sequin Pins. These are shorter, and smaller than regular pins. They are about 1/2" long. A box of 500 will set you back about $3.00 or so. They will be in the craft stores like Michaels, or Hobby Lobby in the bead dept. Also they make great valve stems, and door locks. mnwildpunk Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 If you have a daughter just raid her doll house and take all the knobs he-he I only that because a guy in my modeling club did it
