old-hermit Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 While waiting on a body for my next large scale build I've been keeping busy with some old stalled 1/25 scale stuff. I got a glue bomb Orange Blossom Special that I hoped to restore but it was just to far gone to fix. Soooo, It's going in a different direction. After disassembly and clean up this is all I'll be using of the glue bomb ... Found this old engine in the parts box. All I'm gonna do is clean it and add distributor and wires. I'll be using the frame from a 55 Chevy step side and 4WD running gear from a diecast ... I filled the hole in the hood and made some sides for it. And a firewall ... Heres the first mock up, Lots of work left to do ...
jeffs396 Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Very cool Al! That is one kit that AMT would be glad they reissued if they chose to...they usually sell pretty high on eBay
old-hermit Posted April 21, 2012 Author Posted April 21, 2012 I needed upper A frames, a front engine mount and a transfer case mount so I cut them from Plastruc sheet. It ain't fancy but they work I also cut the tail shaft housing off the tranny to mount it to the transfer case and shortened the rear drive shaft. This is gonna be a pretty basic back woods 4X4 so I cut a sheet of plywood and some filler strips for a bed floor. Gonna need a step ladder to get into this thing
rctruk Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 That is a cool start. I was wondering why you would need upper a arms
Dr. Cranky Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Woah, you've got a nice foundation there with some very sound body work and mods. Keep it going. I like where this one is headed.
old-hermit Posted April 21, 2012 Author Posted April 21, 2012 I was wondering why you would need upper a arms On the diecast I took the suspension from, the frame / fenders are a one piece cast metal assembly with the top of the front spindles inserted into predrilled holes. On the model I couldn't leave the top of the spindles hanging in mid air soooo

vintagedragfan Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 gonna be cool Mr. Hermit, that 1/25 scale stuff is tiny ins't it lol
old-hermit Posted April 24, 2012 Author Posted April 24, 2012 (edited) A few detail items, a hastily applied redneck camo paint job, some Doc O'briens Muddy Red weathering powder and she's done. Gotta have a winch ... and yes I know there are no headlight lenses. That last thicket I plowed through took them out a spare tire and some chain ... a roll bar and extra gas ... the other side ...
