PARTSMARTY Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Hey guys,i've been using purple power for a long time with great results.recently i bought a new gallon and what a surprise! it always seemed to work so good--now it doesn't seem to hardly work.does anybody know if it's been changed or has anybody ever ran into this? thanks-marty
DumpyDan Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Now don't be telling me that, I just bought a gallon my self. But I am in Canada may have a different supplier, I hope. Will report back next body I strip..................Thanks Marty.
rctruk Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 I got a generic brand...works ok seems to work better on fresher paint though, not stuff that has been there for years
Draggon Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 (edited) I remember thinking the same thing the last time I bought a gallon. Doesnt work so good, and needs a lot of encouragement. I suspected they might have altered the formula. Used to take less than a day, now sometimes weeks soaking and not much happens. The only thing I think its good for now is relatively fresh acrylic paint. Edited April 21, 2012 by Draggon
Scuderia Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 The last jug i got here in Michigan was about a month ago. Put some older stuff, week plus. Newer stuff, few days. And its slower on chrome than it used to be from the jug i got last year when i first started using it. I dont think you guys are imagining anything.
GrandpaMcGurk Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 (edited) I haven't had any problems with it yet (bought some a couple weeks ago here in Florida).......don't know if it makes any difference but I only buy the stuff that says "concentrated industrial strength" on the label. Draggon Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Yea, Roger, Ive been thinking of getting that stuff. I just hate to waste the almost full gallon I have. Guess I could find other uses for it.
my80malibu Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 You might try to Agitate it some. Most cleaners do work better when there is a little bit of friction going on, try to stir it or shake up the jug its in, and keep it covered when in use the fumes help the process when contained. I use a plastic container about the size of a model car body, with a lid and just rock it side to side about once a day for a few days.
Fast Floyd 2 Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 I have noticed a difference too, it seems to take longer, than I remember.
