Dr. Cranky Posted April 25, 2012 Author Posted April 25, 2012 Rob, those are very cool wheels. I think they'd look great as shoes for this model.
horsepower Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Don't think those DZ's would make a very good Pro Touring wheel, to much flex, especially with the weight this behemoth would be carrying.
Johnny1973 Posted April 27, 2012 Posted April 27, 2012 Been waiting for this one for some time. Need to find some non-lowrider wire rims and white wall tires though. The rest of the hydro junk will go bye-bye too. Try Modelhaus to see if the have the wheels for the Cadillac
fastram Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 (edited) Pro Touring has my vote! But no wire wheels, maybe a solid smooth wheel with the big fat tires........ Edited May 6, 2012 by fastram
Craig Irwin Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 I have 2 of the first plastic kits, bought them to do a hearse. I'll build that someday.
Scuderia Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 This isn't much of a kit review, but figured this was the best place for this. I was thrasing-about in the Revell site, and I came across the Cadillac Lowrider. I knew it was being re released a few months ago (after the donk version of a while back) but didn't give it much thought. Upon further review of the instructions, I realized they actually did some nice stuff on this one. Revell re did the suspension giving some stock ride height options, and 'normalized' the interior. Gone are the gaudy pillow looking seat treatments. It still has opening trunk and from what I saw online can build to a nice Caddy. I did a search here and didn't come up with any discussion on this yet, but I will add it to my to-do list now. Just have to decide on an appropriate wheel treatment.
martinfan5 Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Lawrence, check out this thread, there is a lot of talk, and some pics of turning it into a 4dr http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=55569
Scuderia Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I suck at search lately, what gives? haha thank you.
martinfan5 Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 No worries mate, I didnt have to search, I just remember reading that thread and replying to it a few times, thats the only reason. I have seen this kit in the LHS, not sure if I want to spend LHS prices though on it, I want to turn into a 4dr
Scuderia Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I'm cool with doing it as the coupe, I don't think i've seen it in my local stores. I think its a good lookin car and would be a classy change of pace on my shelf.

I agree, two or four door, its still a good looking car, is this like the first one, where the bumpers and grill plated in gold instead of chrome?

I've got the very first issue of this and the only thing gold plated are the wheel inserts. Edited June 22, 2012 by JamesW

Scuderia Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Yeah you're prolly right. Button tuffed is tacky in my opinion. But yeah are those modelhaus copies still available?

Scuderia Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Oh no, in my original post i mentioned that i read over the instructions out of curiosity. I looked at each sheet a couple times and i saved tthe other kits sheet because i lamented the fact there was no stock susp. option
