Here is the AMT/Johnny Lighting Pontiac GTO, well I wanted to do this one as a Holden Monrao, but the transkit for was a little pricey , then when you added in shipping and the exchange rates for AUS, it was going to be close to or well over $50, for a front bumper and a RHD dash. I still need to finish the driving light, and make another US plate for it.

So I decided to see if I could convert the nose piece to the look like the Holden, well its close, but not good either. The car started off being black, it was one of the first bodys that I A/B, didn’t like it, stripped it, tried yellow, again had problems , after four more trips from the purple pond and 97% alcohol, I used Testor one coat star spangled blue, clear coated it with Future

So I decided to come up with a little story for this one. This is outback Jack’s car, he move to the states for work, but had to leave behind his beloved Holden Monaro, so after being here for awhile, he bought himself a GTO, since is was a Holden just with a different name plate. Then one night, he was ebay , and came across a nose piece to convert GTOs to Holden’s, well it was badly done piece, but he didn’t want to spend a lot of money either, so he got it, but it still didn’t cheer him up.

Nice conversion , the nose piece looks pretty good . The dash is fairly simple to convert to right hand drive too if you ever get the urge to do another one . I'll post some photo's of how I did it later in a new thread in here .

That would be great, I thought about doing it on this one, and I still could, the dash is not glued in placed

I like the concept a lot and that is actually a huge thing in the customizing world. Often the VW guys pay a bunch of money to have the German bumper and trunk lids as well. I am glad you finally nailed it on this color, It looks good on this car.

Thanks guys, I really wanted to do yellow on this on, but all my yellow paint did was just fight me, and after this past weekend at the clubs BBQ, I saw someone that was there and they had a blue GTO, and I really liked how looked.
