brett Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Fuel coupe twins that is. Couple old Monogram funny cars the Ford tempo "Budweiser King " of Kenny Bernstein and the Mustang "Chiefs Auto Parts 7-11 " of Billy Meyer. Bulk parts of both kits are identical, hence the twins reference. almost impossible to mask these cars off properly so I've applied and cleared the decals, will mask using parafilm (extremely low tack) and put other colors on after done here. Will take better photos today
Dragline Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I know what it's like to mask the Bud King car Brett. These should look great after you are done with em for sure. Bob
brett Posted April 25, 2012 Author Posted April 25, 2012 thanks guys, did some masking and threw a bucket of paint at them, need to improve my throwing I think lol, got a couple little touch ups to do on both but nothing to major mustang chassis Tempo chassis
pharr7226 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 The chassis and motor look great. Nice job masking and painting also. It looks like you got a little bleed through on the tape on the second one. But, I'm sure your touch up will fix it nicely. Did you use an acrylic to spray over the decals?
Dragracer Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Nice looking Fuel Coupes Brett, both nice cars, have (had) quite a few of Billy Meyers cars, never built one as a 'Stang tho, turned the first one I had into the Hawaiian Punch Daytona.
brett Posted April 30, 2012 Author Posted April 30, 2012 Thanks guys , Mustangs done, had some issues both with paint and decals on the Tempo (Bud King car) but still its nearly there
Mister Twister Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Thats a great looking pair Brett....Nice work and real clean looking paint.
AZ Boy Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Lookin' good, Brett. The Billy Meyer Mustang turned out great!
Dragracer Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 The twins are looking good Brett, what kind of problems did you have with the Tempo?, the pics of it look good, or did you already take care of the problem?
brett Posted May 1, 2012 Author Posted May 1, 2012 Thanks guys . Richard ,, the original decals although slightly yellowed laid down nicely but after I cleared them and masked over them to get better placement for the red paint, the tape peeled parts of the decal off. I did scan them first so was able to use those for the stripes which is all I had applied but neither the front one (spoiler) or hood one would lay straight and I ended up pulling both off. The side ones aren't great either but dont seem to be to noticeable (at least till I told ya'll ).Going to give it a wet sand and re-clear it then I'll paint the black stripes by hand.
W-409 Posted May 1, 2012 Posted May 1, 2012 Turned out great! This year Mustang Funny Cars look good and you did amazing job with that. Paintjob looks good and those decals are nicely on their place too.
brett Posted May 2, 2012 Author Posted May 2, 2012 Cleaned up ready for the black stripes and rear wing
brett Posted May 7, 2012 Author Posted May 7, 2012 Thanks guys, its done will take some better pics tomorrow
