Qwit Pushin Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 There are many reputable online 'stores' to purchase from, but don't forget to patronize your local hobby shop. By buying local, any tax money you pay goes to support YOUR community services, not someone else's in another state. Any money that stays in your local community is the best money you'll ever spend. Sometimes it's worth spending a couple bucks more if it means local jobs and services. Just saying....
Green Duster Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 My so called hobby store is 60 miles away. The truck gets about 15-16 miles per gallon. I wish i had a local hobby store. The great northwoods. Ha, god forsaken country.
JamesW Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 (edited) I wish I had a well stocked LHS. They used to have 20x6 foot section full of kits. Now I'm lucky if they carry 30 kits at MOST at any given time. That's why I choose to shop online. Fun fact: Their suppliers happen to be Tower Hobbies and Hobbylinc. If I need a kit they don't have in stock they'll order it for me, but I can get it cheaper elsewhere. It's not like they'll close up shop if they stop carrying kits, because they're biggest business is baby stuff and LOTS of other kinds of toys anyway. Edited April 28, 2012 by JamesW
george 53 Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 I use Model Round Up mostly, Jack is cool to talk with, an I get my large scale aircraft from Squadron shops. Been buying from them for over 30 years. Oh an yeah, I find alot of stuff on the Evil Bay.

The70judgeman Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 As of right now, I'm lucky to have two local hobby stores within a few miles of my home. That is until my wife and I move. But, til that happens, I take full advantage and go to each store at least once a week and spend what I can to help keep their doors open. One of the stores also has an online catalog which also keeps their prices decent...$3-$5 cheaper retail than most stores, because they buy in bulk. And, I also use Ebay from time to time. Once I move I just hope there is a decent hobby store reletively close. If not...then I'll resort to more online shopping.
Bartster Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 I use Star Models almost exclusively. Steve Kohler is a great guy & has over 7000 kits in his inventory. lf he doesn't have it , he will do his all to find it. Best prices I've seen anywhere on old & new kits. He is also affilated with Resin Realm & Newt's Boneyard & can get anything from their inventories as well.
Dr. Cranky Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 For car kits, I use MODEL ROUND UP. For other things, I used HOBBY LINK JAPAN, MISSION MODELS, and GAMES WORKSHOP.

Ha, god forsaken country. Would trading it in for something that's easier on the petrol be a feasible alternative? I mean, what's the nicest truck worth if you can't afford to drive it?
martinfan5 Posted April 29, 2012 Posted April 29, 2012 One of the place's I like to buy from, is Southern Motorsports Hobbys, Ronnie is a great guy to deal with, and his kit prices are low, one kit shipping is $5. And if you are on his mailing list, you get to take part in his 20% off sales he does. I just bought two Revell kits , both less the $15 after shipping.
