Hi again to all the styrene addicts. This time I'm bugging with more questions. It all begun this morning when I got this brand new car kit (amt 2012 Chevy corvette coupe) being my second car. I didn't realize it comes with NOOOOO engine. How come? Do you have an answer please let me know because now I'm sad of having bought it :(

Off the top of my head, I can't remember what "series" it was, but AMT has some models that are "curb side" models. They are very simple construction with minimal parts, hence...no engine, probably metal axles, and only a few or so parts for the interior. Kind of like the old promo models dealerships use to give out as a sales pitch or to the kids. You have to read the side of the box to see exactly what you're getting....parts count, the pictures, etc...

Its the show replicas that you are thinking of Andy ;) , that dont have engines, and all the Dodge Challenger kits I believe are all curbside as well.

The AMT 'Showroom Replicas' series are basically unassembled promos, curbside kits. The series has included '08-10 Challengers, '09-12 Corvette coupes and convertibles, '10 Camaro SS and '11 Camaro SS convertible so far...

Do they make that clear on the box?

Not sure..I haven't looked closely at the boxes. On the Round 2 site they mention that they are curbside.

Edit: checked the box on '12 Corvette...says 'Simplified curbside style' on the side of box, and on the bottom of the box they have the trees and parts layout in silhouette and it's clear that the chassis is solid and there is no engine.

I just checked all the box and confirm what you say. Thank you all of you guys for being always here. From now on I'll check every single detail on a box. :)
