sjordan2 Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Does anyone know of a source for very thin chrome pinstriping? I can't find any, and I would prefer not to have to do very fine cutting on BMF.
TooOld Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 (edited) Model Expo has Chrome and Metallic Gold tape in widths down to .010" wide . Their latest catalog lists them for $1.99 per roll . www.modelexpo-online.com Edited May 21, 2012 by TooOld
Harry P. Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 The hardest part of using very thin tape is getting it down straight without waves. Almost impossible.
moparmagiclives Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 If this is for the 1/16 car that was already moved once, I would use the same process you were thinking about with the paints, but go to the craft store and get some leaf sizeing, and lay that down in your taped area, remove and apply silver leaf once its set. Its not to hard to work with.
Cato Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 The hardest part of using very thin tape is getting it down straight without waves. Almost impossible. True but a way to help that is to lay a line of masking tape on the lower edge of where you want the chrome stripe. Use it as an edge guide to give you the straight or curve you wish.
