JTRACING Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 new project Revell kit of the Z-16 with the bigblock 396 going for a factory stock look with it so far I have the body painted, I used "poppy red"
crispy Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 That body looks great! Nice panel lines! Should be nice when it is all tied together! Chris
JTRACING Posted July 9, 2007 Author Posted July 9, 2007 thanks! did a bit of work on the interior today
MrObsessive Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 That looks great James..................One of my favorite mid '60's Chevy's! Your interior gloss of black is dead on for vinyl! Sometimes that can be hard to achieve. Keep up the good work! 8)
crispy Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 I concur with Bill. Interior looks awesome. What did you use for flocking? And, what is your technique? Beautiful! Chris
JTRACING Posted July 9, 2007 Author Posted July 9, 2007 for the flocking I use "embossing powder" its a super fine metal dust. it works better then flocking IMO, and I can paint it any color I want. I put it on the same as normal flocking with white glue.
crispy Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 JT, that's ingenious! SO, you apply like normal and then paint after application? Thanks! Chris
Hillbilly Deluxe Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Awesome job James! Can anyone tell me where I might find embossing powder? Thanks John
crispy Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 John, I would think Michaels or Hobby Lobby as far as chain stores, but check with your local Hobby Shop too, they may be able to get it for you easier. Chris
cruz Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 I will definetly be getting that powder man, looks great and a little better than the flocking.........
hookedonplastics Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 Echoing Chris, do you paint the embossing powder after you glue it down? And if so, what paints? BTW, the details in the interior are just sick! 8)
JTRACING Posted July 11, 2007 Author Posted July 11, 2007 Echoing Chris, do you paint the embossing powder after you glue it down? And if so, what paints? yes I put glue on the bare plastic, then sprinkle that stuff on, let it dry then just spray paint it, I used flat black enamel from the hardware store
Hillbilly Deluxe Posted July 11, 2007 Posted July 11, 2007 WOW!!! James that interior is terrific! Can you tell us how you got the dash to look so realistic? Where did you get your window cranks from? Thanks John
JTRACING Posted July 11, 2007 Author Posted July 11, 2007 WOW!!! James that interior is terrific! Can you tell us how you got the dash to look so realistic? Where did you get your window cranks from? Thanks John thanks man for the dash I spray painted the gauge area aluminum, masked it off then sprayed the rest black followed by semi-gloss clear then added some black washing on the sluminum area. the window cranks are molded on the door panels, I just painted them chrome silver.
crispy Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 James, That exhaust looks very realistic. I like the shading near the mufflers. Did you use regular testor paints or some kind of weathering? James, it just looks great. Keep the shots coming! Chris

James, it just looks great. Keep the shots coming! Chris I havent used testors paint in loooooooooooong time lol, I just mainly spray paint every part, either with enamel or lacquer. and I used some clear orange and yellow tamiya paint on the pipes completed chassis
larrygre Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 Nice job on the Z-16, James. I especially like the use of the photoreduced magazines and kit boxes - but what did you use for that purse? Is that a 1/2" dollhouse item? Very cool!

Is that a 1/2" dollhouse item? Very cool! the purse i found at the dollar store, it is soem sort of pin or something. i got a whole box for a buck lol just have to paint them.
cruz Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Very good job on the chassis weathering, looks very convincing.............
Harry P. Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Wow...great looking model. Your detailing looks terrific!
doverrules Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 It's not smart to keep a purse in plain view like that. I hope the owners keep the doors locked! Fantastic job all around. Pristine where it should be, and weathered realistically where the sun don't shine. Looking forward to seeing it completed. Regards, Don
