busmechanic87 Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 I know this question has been asked a million times, but here goes...... I have a frame I painted with Testor's Gloss Black Enamel out of the rattle can and I'm not happy with the results. What is the best way to strip it without damaging the part? Is Simple Green effective?
Fat Brian Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Testors paint is fairly easy to strip, Purple Power, Castrol Superclean, LA's Totally Awesome, and oven cleaner are some of the many options. I imagine Simple Green would work, try testing it on a scrap piece of plastic to be sure it is safe first.
george 53 Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Simple green is VERY effective on Testors spray enamel spray paint. The ONLY thing I've ever seen it NOT effect was ANYONES Flat Black paint. Don't ask me why, but it WON'T take it off! I use 91% alcohol for that. HTH
Guest Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Here's a photo of parts I stripped with LA's Totally Awesome. Almost all of these parts were painted with Testors black enamel.
