modelmike Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 I would like to say Happy Memorial Day and to give thanks to all on this site that have served in our armed forces, and say thank you for your service and sacrafices you indured... and to those that lost loved ones in the service of our country, we all owe you a debt that can never be repayed....."Please God galvanize our protectors so that they may be unscathed by the evil of our enemy"
Guest Johnny Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 I find it to be a solemn day of remembrance, nothing really "happy" about it.
W-Machine Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 If not for all the sacrifice and hard work of those in uniform, I couldn't be the lazy civilian that I am.
Wagoneer81 Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 I find it to be a solemn day of remembrance, nothing really "happy" about it. That's why I usually offer up,'Blessed Memorial Day'... Because we are blessed with the freedoms and liberties that so many sacrificed everything to insure. If not for all the sacrifice and hard work of those in uniform, I couldn't be the lazy civilian that I am. Amen to that!
Madd Trucker Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 (edited) Over the weekend my Daughter bouught me a T shirt that reads on the Front : If you Love Your Freedom : The back says it all It is the Veteran It is the Veteran not the Preacher who has given us the freedom of Religion ; It is the Veteran not the Reporter who gave us the the Freedom of the Press ; It is the Veteran not the Poet who has given us the Freedom of Speech ; It was the Veteran not the Campus Organizer who gave us the Freedon to Assemble ; It is the Veteran not the Lawyer who gave us the right to a Fair Trial ; It was the Veteran not thePolitican who gave us the right to Vote . Art Anderson Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Over the weekend my Daughter bouught me a T shirt that reads on the Front : If you Love Your Freedom : The back says it all It is the Veteran It is the Veteran not the Preacher who has given us the freedom of Religion ; It is the Veteran not the Reporter who gave us the the Freedom of the Press ; It is the Veteran not the Poet who has given us the Freedom of Speech ; It was the Veteran not the Campus Organizer who gave us the Freedon to Assemble ; It is the Veteran not the Lawyer who gave us the right to a Fair Trial ; It was the Veteran not thePolitican who gave us the right to Vote . Richard, IMO, it is the fallen soldier/sailor/airman/marine who is the one who's given us all of these things more than anything! To paraphrase that analogy regarding breakfast, the veteran (not to denigrate any veteran, PLEASE) was involved, but the fallen were committed. RIP all those who gave their lives unselfishly to make this country the strongest, the bastion of freedom, the citadel of human and civil rights! Surely The Almighty is with you now and forever more! Art
Madd Trucker Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 I do agree with you Art is was the Fallen and all who have served our country, I lost a few good friends in Nam
Qwit Pushin Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 It goes without saying that I am eternally grateful for the sacrifice of life made by our war dead, who died to preserve our continued freedom and to the families who mourn their loss, but I also give thanks everyday for the sacrifices made by veterans still living and those currently serving, who left family and friends behind while serving our country with no guarantee that they'd ever return. My thanks to to their families for raising, encouraging and supporting these fine human beings.
