gray07 Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Just wandering if anyone has ever been to this car museum in volo illinois, and if its worth the drive, thanks
High octane Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 I've been to the Volo Auto Museum many times and they have a lot of really neat cars on display as well as for sale also. They also have a great Military Museum too. From Michigan City Indiana it is a bit of a hike, say 2 1/2 -3 hours each way and I don't know if would be worth the drive for me, however it may be worth it to you and it depends on the individual.
gray07 Posted June 18, 2012 Author Posted June 18, 2012 I was told they had a military museum, and i was told they had antique malls, for my wife.

mikemodeler Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Your best bet is to research some other attractions in the general vicinity and make a short vacation out of it. There is a nice train museum in Union, IL and east of Volo is Six Flags amusement park in Gurnee along with the big outlet mall, Gurnee Mills. From Gurnee you are only 45 - 60 minutes away from Milwaukee and there are some neat hobby shops and a ton of other things to do. Later in July is the Wisconsin State fair and usually some good music acts of all tastes play there so you could have a great time without having to drive more than a couple hundred miles.
Harry P. Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 Well worth the drive. A LOT of cars on display/for sale, a huge antique mall (if you're into that sort of thing), consignment shops that sell everything from Elvis memorabilia to automotive-related stuff to you-name-it, good food selection, etc., etc. You can easily spend a whole day there and still not see everything.
Junkman Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 (edited) The Dragula is there. That alone should be reason enough to drive that hour up from Chi-town. The scenic route is along the lake shore, then hook a left in North Chicago. Edited June 18, 2012 by Junkman
