Haubenschild Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 I already removed one fender skirt , It wasnt the cleanest job and the wheel well is now kinda squared off , but it sure looks good!
Casey Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 You can always raise the top of the rear wheel arches to make them even wit the front wheel arches, as seen in the pic above....put those files and sanding sticks to work, Liam!
Haubenschild Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 Here is the rear wheel arch. ( the black shaded area is for a side exit exhaust opening
Casey Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Sand, sand, and sand some more. Looks good, Liam...now to get the other side to match. One more thing- you can crop your pictures straight from your Photobucket account using the "Edit" dropdown tab (second from the left, once you scroll the cursor over the picture.
1930fordpickup Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 The picture's of the Bird that you like the look of had the fender skirts raised in the wheel well opening . Still had a skirt look but not the stock look of no skirts. It looks to me like they split the difference between the two as far as the height of the top . It also does not look like it is thew same shape as with no skirt;.
Haubenschild Posted July 19, 2012 Author Posted July 19, 2012 (edited) The other skirt has been removed and the wheel arches have been rounded slightly at the rear and the exhaust exits have been cut ( yes I am aware of all the slash marks on the body ) I am still not sure sure on the exhaust tip , I am thinking of a rectangular metal tip or twin exhaust tips Edited July 19, 2012 by Haubenschild
Del Austin Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 If you really want a cool look use the front wheel opening from a donor vehicle. I have seen this done on a 1:1 and it looked killer. The rears were grafted on lower than the front so they almost looked factory. The little bit of flare out on the opening added a lot and most people didn't even notice it wasn't stock.
Haubenschild Posted July 20, 2012 Author Posted July 20, 2012 (edited) That sounds like an interesting idea! but I am just going to stick with the stock body parts , to be honest I am just free styling this build , I was never thinking about doing anything like this. I removed the X frame? from the chassis and removed the molded in exhausts from the X frame? I am obviously going to make a new exhaust system , now , I am wondering if I should make a a new X frame or just modify the kits part. Edited July 20, 2012 by Haubenschild
Dirty Gringo Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Hmmm I like the idea taking front and putting in the rear hmmm think I have a couple of these kits laying around
