MachinistMark
recently scored an unopened 60 chev at a flea market for 7.50$, wanted to build one for a while so i dove right in, never mind my umpteen other wips... as i was looking it over and cleaning up mold lines, i realized that all too often i rush through "the basics" just to start trhrowin paint on it in search of my next shiny paint jobs (cause as we all know, RUST SUCKS) so im Boxing up alllll my other wips, and concentrating on this and this alone. im not painting anything on the body....untill it is READY. no half arsing it. im sick of rushing the primer stage to find ghost lines pop up after the colour coat.... As for the model, it will be kind of a modern street truck style custom.. billet wheels, lowered suspension, shiny paint colours will be mazdas winning blue and gm's ice blue swapping the front spindles left to right and right to left and the low pro tires will get the stance im after in the front i think, and if not, i have a front sub frame from an AMT 70 camaro that i can graft on if it needs to be lower, the rear suspension ill merely just cut the springs.. ive shaved: door handles, wipers, hood emblem, filled all the seams in the bed, hood, and fenders, also filled the stake pockets. im having fun with this one. more fun than ive had with any other model in a while. ill post pics tomorrow. LoneWolf15
Just a suggestion ..... Want to avoid the ghost scratches ? Wet sand the body all the way up to 12000 before you apply the primer . Depending on what type of paint you're using , you could even forgo the primer stage . Simply wetsand the body under a steady stream of cold running water . And yes ! , the paint will stick to that smooth of a surface !
