shafer Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 (edited) due to the difficulty of masking the stripes , i brush painted this one and used clear coat and polish to hide the brush srokes, the finished product looks great but the first shots of the paint leave little to be desired This is the finished product Edited July 11, 2012 by shafer
bbowser Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Nice job. I see you used the Polar Lights kit, that's a tough one to get together looking good.
Plasticfanatic Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Looks great and as said by fellow forum member, not an easy kit to build and paint. Your Petty Roadrunner looks also great,I have these two same Petty cars at the workbench as well as the 1971 STP Charger, hope mine turn as nice as yours.

Fred, just to help out- there never was a 1971 STP Charger. STP's sponsorship of Richard Petty began in 1972. During that time the Petty team ran three cars. The STP Plymouth Roadrunner #43, The 1972 STP Charger #43, and the all STP red #11 Charger driven by teammate Buddy Baker. Grant you the 1971 and 1972 Chargers were the same body style.
Plasticfanatic Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 Magnum4342 and Futurebat, you are correct all the way, I made the mistake because of the same body style for 1971/72 as said by Magnum4342.
Truck parts Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I'am a big Petty fan,and that look's great. It's hard to tell what year it is some time.
Truck parts Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Jacen,Thank's for the pic of some of petty's cars. I seen something in the pic of the 43 and 8. How the number 43 is turned. Thank you again.
shafer Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 the non canted # was on the charger with the stripes going down the roof and trunk
shafer Posted August 29, 2012 Author Posted August 29, 2012 I think you mean "hood". The stripes never ran down the trunk, or deck lid. hood yeah that wht i meant, thanks for correcting me
