Even then, a sense of personal pride should drive you toward perfection. To reiterate what others have said; do what makes you happy! For me, that's a lot of scratchbuilding and detailing. I enjoy the journey, and always try to add new experiences, along the way. 

True there are many ways to enjoy the hobby. For some that means the pursuit of perfection. There is nothing wrong with that. The only thing is that you are enjoying what you are doing.
