Rich_S Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Rich, What is the wording on the valve covers on that engine?
peterbuilder48 Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 bed looks wide at cab and narrow at the rear, better check
Jim B Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 was asked about the engine not sure so hope this can help That's a naturally aspirated Caterpiller 3208 that was built for Ford by Caterpiller and sold in Ford trucks as the V200 or V220. From what I've heard, this engine is actually a Caterpiller 1160 which is the predecessor to the 3208. Apparently the 1160 & 3208 had different fronts.

Hi Jim, Did Ford paint the engines blue or leave them cat yellow in the Louisville Line trucks? I only drove a couple of Louisville Line's and they both had DD 318's that were so cruddy you couldn't tell what the original engine color was Edited July 25, 2012 by Rich_S
Jim B Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Rick, I'm pretty sure Justin is correct as you could probably find them in both. Ford truck engines in the 1970s were Ford Blue, but if there was a rush order the engine probably would have been OEM color. Similar to Peterbilt & Kenworth who had their engines painted white, or International who had their engines painted red; but OEM colors always crept in!
bandit1 Posted July 29, 2012 Posted July 29, 2012 I have seen them both. Some blue and some yellow. YAAAAAA! So i can actually paint my "CAT" yellow? that is in my louisville! YIPPPEEEEEE! :P
lapazleo Posted July 30, 2012 Posted July 30, 2012 They used Ford blue on Cat Cummins And Detroit in the early 70s
