41CHEVY Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 This is the Revell kit that was painted in HOK Pearl Yellow Frieze... It was rubbed and foiled, after about 10 months the paint checked . Almost tossed it,but I put it in the box and it sat for almost 2 years.MATT T's 40's started me on the do it over trail. the body is chopped 5 scale inches, rear window laid dowmn to keep full size, windshield opened up at top to help perspective. The body is channeled 6 scale inches ,hood has a 1/8 inch wedge cut out to bring nose down. 39 ford headlights .Wheel openings raised up and radiused. Things to change (?) sunken rear plate, angle 'b' pillars forward slightly, sunken ariels, taillight are up in air. (the originals were 1/16 x 3/8 inch slits in fender edge). engine modified flathead, wheels are wide whites and Caddy sombraros, grill is modified 41 Lincolin. we were going for mid 50's Show car, The new color will be Coral Pearl. Any opinions??? Paul

Any opinions??? Paul how about '57 Corvette taillights?
41CHEVY Posted July 29, 2007 Author Posted July 29, 2007 Good idea...NEVER thought about those rear lights !!! Thanks!!! Paul
Matt T. Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 Hi Paul, Nice kustom! I'd vote for leaving the B-pillars upright. The Coral with Sombreros sounds like a winning plan. The Corvette taillight idea would be unique. Another taillight idea could be '50 Pontiac units from the AMT '34 Ford - latest release. Put them just inboard of the fenders, maybe? I'm glad to see this one resurrected! Matt
JAFFA Posted July 30, 2007 Posted July 30, 2007 REAALL nice! love the lines on the rear! ya finnished or ya gonna cut em up to change em?? (hope ur not..) Sombrero caps will look great!
41CHEVY Posted July 30, 2007 Author Posted July 30, 2007 Thanks for the compliments and advise, I agree about leaving the B pillars alone. The tail lights a the 57 Corvettes, mounted in the upper end of rear fender, and head lights are now deeply tunneled in to fenders. I'll post pics this afternoon when I get home. Thanks again all!! Paul
41CHEVY Posted July 31, 2007 Author Posted July 31, 2007 Here are the pics,I tunneled in the headlightsand will add smaller parking lights below them. Here are the 57 vette taillights .The contour follows the 40 fender line almost perfectly!! Thanks Paul
Matt T. Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Here are the 57 vette taillights .The contour follows the 40 fender line almost perfectly!! Thanks Paul That works for me. Looks good! And period-perfect, ta-boot.
41CHEVY Posted August 7, 2007 Author Posted August 7, 2007 Here is an update. The body needs some "touch up" on a few spots, but aside from 57 Plymouth style parking lights below headlights it is inits final configuration. The Sombraros were changed to a flying saucer style.... everybody uses Caddy sombraros now days. LOL The choices of engines are 1) 3/4 race Flathead , 2) 348 Chevy with tri power or 3) the "baby" hemi from the new Ala Cart. ??????? PAUL
outlaw035 Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 (edited) wow james luv it....40 fords look so much better chopped....i vote for the 348 w/tri-power... Edited August 10, 2007 by outlaw035
