doomcrew Posted December 23, 2012 Author Posted December 23, 2012 The fuel oil lines have been installed, as well as the throttle cable and linkage. Also, the tires have arrived from Teds Modelling, now just waiting for the wheels. I used my lathe and three grades of sandpaper to get rid of the mould lines on the slicks, and put realistic wear on them. I simply clamped the tires on the chuck, using each grade of paper at differing speeds. The fronts were just done by hand as they were too flexible to be put on to the chuck. Thanks for looking. Steve
baddgass Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Very VERY! nice the cockpit looks so good, engine outstanding. Keep it coming in bro.
hOLMS Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Amazing work Steve....wish I could get this far on one of ??? I have going!
Mooneyzs Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 Steve.... This is sure taking shape and looking great. I can't wait to see what you go with for paint. Keep up the great work.
vintagedragfan Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 looks great Steve! when do you plan on painting the body? any ideas on color, graghix?
gasser59 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Now that is progressing nicely. Love your execution Steve. Where are you sourcing your wheels?
MicroNitro Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 Here is a picture of the wheels that are on there way to Steve. They are the first 1/16 scale M/T wheels I have made we did a set 1/12 scale for Joe. I think they turned out pretty good if I say so my self.
vintagedragfan Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 looks like Steve should be very happy with those wheels!!
doomcrew Posted January 1, 2013 Author Posted January 1, 2013 Yep, definately like the look of those wheels, they look great, can't wait for these beauties to arrive. I have taken a rest from this build so I can enjoy xmas and new year, can't build with a hangover :-) Thanks for the kind comments guys, will need the encouragement after the holidays. Steve.
doomcrew Posted January 4, 2013 Author Posted January 4, 2013 well all I need now is the wheels for a rolling chassis. The steering is now done, and the emergency and clutch cables have been fitted. The under belly pan has been painted and fitted, I will fix the fastners to that when it is on it's wheels. Steve
Mooneyzs Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Steve... It's awesome to see that you are just about ready to button this one up. I can't wait to see what you have in store for the paint.
gasser59 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 This is one top notch build Steve. You do some incredible work.
cwobeaman Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Looks amazing.... I'm following! I've dealt with Ted for small items that cross over into the 1:12 and 1:24 world that he stocks. He is very knowledgeable and communication was great back and forth. I highly recommend all scales at least check him out.
tyrone Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 This build looks Awesome, and the wheels are off the chain.. cant wait to see it all together...
doomcrew Posted January 9, 2013 Author Posted January 9, 2013 Well the wheels have arrived, and they are superb, great job JIm. I did modify the them a little to fit. I drilled a slightly bigger hole in the center caps in the front wheels, so that they could fit on the spindles. I had to machine the back of the rears, so that they could clear the calipers. While waiting for the wheels, I continued working on the body. I played with the idea of using a deck style spoiler, but I chose the spoiler that came with the body. steve
Mooneyzs Posted January 9, 2013 Posted January 9, 2013 Steve... those wheels look awesome. Jim always does killer work and puts out a great product!! you are sure on the home stretch on this one. keep up the great work.
vintagedragfan Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 you can't go wrong with Jim's wheel's, they are top notch! as well as the rest of your build Steve!
doomcrew Posted January 10, 2013 Author Posted January 10, 2013 This is where I am at now. Just waiting for some 1mm threaded rod and nuts so I can bolt on the rear wheels and 4mm magnets to keep the doors closed. There is a little more body work to do, ie improving the gaps between panels, building up and shaping around the exhausts, interior door panels. I am undecided on putting a bulge in front of and around the engine opening, that follows the lines of the front end. Still trying to work out a colour scheme for this. Still, nearly there. Steve
Bechi Medina Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Hey! i need help! What tube use for the chassis..? thanks!
