JamesW Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 When a payment is made by Paypal, do the funds get held until the item has been verified as delivered or positive feedback has been recieved (like Ebay)? I only ask because I'm in need of some quick cash and don't want to go the Ebay route for that reason.
nboldman Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Idk, but emodelcars doesn't have the traffic that ebay does and they don't sell very quickly on there.
JamesW Posted August 4, 2012 Author Posted August 4, 2012 Right, but I've got some "rare" kits that might move quickly. I guess I should elaborate and say that what I mean by quick cash is I have a couple bills to pay and due to having to buy a new tire for my 1:1 yesterday I'm short that much money. If I have to wait the 21 days for paypal to release my funds that bill will be late and will result in SERIOUS action. I didn't mean that I would take the money and run, as I'm sure that's what that may have sounded like.
cobraman Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I would use Ebay. You can list them with a Buy It Now and if your kits are rare as you say they will sell quick if your price is fair. Paypal puts the money in your acccount very quickly and you can use the funds right away. The bad part is that if you want cash you have to request a check which for me seems to take about a week. As suggested above however you could use Cragislist and perhaps turn them into cash fast. Good luck. No seling is allowed here as above suggested.
JamesW Posted August 4, 2012 Author Posted August 4, 2012 I'm still not an established seller on Ebay, so they hold the funds for 21 days, or until they can verify delivery or I receive positive feedback. I can transfer the funds to my bank account, which would be completed by Monday if I transfered the money today. The problem with craigslist is there have been kits listed on there before and it took weeks to sell any of them. I'm just not in a modelers area.
cobraman Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I was unaware that ebay ever held funds that long. I started on ebay in 1999 and have about 1300 transactions both buying and selling, I guess thats why the difference. Do you have a friend with a paypal account ? If so maybe they would list them for you.
JamesW Posted August 4, 2012 Author Posted August 4, 2012 I took your advice and listed them on craigslist, I've already got a bite on one them, we're negotiating on a price. I also contacted jim n ohio.
JamesW Posted August 4, 2012 Author Posted August 4, 2012 How many times does it have to be said...there's no selling on this site! EXACTLY why I didn't even try to sell them here. LOL Don't wanna make the Big Kahuna mad.
martinfan5 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 How many times does it have to be said...there's no selling on this site! I guess it take a lot times being said over and over and over , people should just take a moment to read the rules
Harry P. Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I guess it take a lot times being said over and over and over , people should just take a moment to read the rules Then the moderators wouldn't have anything to do!
nboldman Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 I wish i could help in some way. My ebay is a registered seller. even though ive only sold two items.
JamesW Posted August 5, 2012 Author Posted August 5, 2012 I wish i could help in some way. My ebay is a registered seller. even though ive only sold two items. I'm a registered seller, but Ebay's rules are you have to have a certain amount of positive feedback AS a seller before they don't hold the funds. However, it turns out I don't need to sell the kits after all, as I had a VERY good night at work, and I still have 2 more days to work before the bill I owe is due.
Guest Johnny Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 From the way things sell on emodelcars he'd be better off shutting it down and just adding a for sale section on site like so many other models sites do.
