Thanks for the link Greg, they mention 60 years of Matchbox, it doesn't seem like it has been that long since they came out.

Looks like some cool releases, kinds wish some of the model manufacturers could issue some of the same models!

Yeah, I goofed on the 50 years couldn't edit it to 60. Still, seems like a good long time. I got a few in England in the late fifty's.

congratulations, you are officially old, because that remark is a defining characteristic of "old".

i love matchbox but i always preferred Dinky Toys and later Corgi cars. Still matchbox had some nice stuff like the classic XKE in candy red.

I still have my first one I bought with my own money. Also have a historic set, now worth over $3,000.00' 5 vehicles in the set.

I was a Dinky fan also. I still have a box full of military stuff, tanks, transporters, guns with trucks to pull them.

They was always my favorite. my dad would buy them at the corner drug store. l have some left mint but l wouldn't sell them...

as a child my dad used to bring them home from work for me, They came from the council skips and most were in surprisingly good condition. I had hundreds of them by the time i reached my teens in all sorts of conditions. I'll never forget the day my mother gave them away to her friend for his new born boy !

uh huh. good luck on that.

Will have to dig them up, and get pics. As for the set that is what the colledctors book listed the value at with all 5 pieces separate. They will go to my kids, as I have no plans on selling them.
