Hey guys,

Our club has been offered to host a contest and am looking for options as to how to properly display them and keep them safe. It will be for an Autorama show and the builds will need to stay overnight and be somewhat protected from the 1000's of passerbys. I've seen a couple different plexiglass covers at shows I've been to, but have no idea where to begin looking. Any insight would be highly appreciated.

Bring something light weight to cover the entire display. It's amazing how much dust will settle over evrything if not covered. Also take several pics of the display right before you cover it up.If something comes up missing, you'll have photographic proof of it. The overnite thing is tough to decide. Whose going to verify the security? Hopefully it's someone like county sheriffs or entities like that. Check with other people who have done the show before about lost items. Don't Touch warnings all over the display help. I like raising the tables with 12 to 18 inch PVC pipe to keep them at a height so little hands can't grab the little "toys".I know that's not popular with some folks. GOOD LUCK :D

Station helpers around the tables as a barrier in case someone tries to take a model. Teams of four is usually good. One to chase and trip the Perp another to catch the model while it's flying through the air .two to beat the everloving ###### out of that Dirtbag.

Tables raised and rope off about 2 ft outside the edges of the tables to keep prying hands off.

LOTS of 'Don't touch ' signs .

Keep on coming up with ideas. The Florida Auto & Scale Trucks Model Club (FAST) will be holding its' first show on October 27, 2012 in Ocala, FL. We have PVC pipe to raise the tables about 16", a bunch of "Do Not Touch" signs on bright orange paper, and a new banner. IPMS in Orlando will be thoroughly checked out for ideas, plans, and knowledge.

Contest flyer and registration forms are here -

I should have said that MAGS does multi-day contests and are usually in a building that gets locked up at night. They also put on a tremendous drive-in diorama for the builds.

Table Top Cruisers does a multi-day contest in a mall. I haven't attended one so I don't have details. They also have a terrific diorama setting. Maybe the MAGS and/or Table Top guys will be at IPMS and I'll try to remember to ask or, even better, have them post here.
