Virgil - I like the idea of the plates in the interior and on the firewall. It looks like you have the ignition wires going in the intake manifold. Am I missing something? Didn't see a generator bracket (Harry might not like that). I'm enjoying your progress.

Actually, once I set the engine in, I will see how much of that front part shows and I will add something to make it look like it's got a distributor on there. If you look through my video archives I have other methods of creating washes, etc . . . but I am trying the new AK-INTERACTIVE WASHES, and I really like the simplicity of mixing and application. Dr. Cranky Posted August 15, 2012 Author Posted August 15, 2012 The difference is that by using these enamel (or oil) washes, you can manipulate the effect. Acrylic washes stay put once they dry. And they tend to leave residue and rings, etc . . . These are smooth, and you can change them or wipe them off if you don't like the effect.

crazyjim Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Those washes are interesting. Could they be used for giving the chassis of a a street machine the appearance of being driven? Does it go over flat or gloss paint? Where do you get it?

I think over gloss paint it will knock off a bit of the shine, but that's exactly the look I would imagine "driven" looks like. You can get it by contacting Iain Hamilton at AK-INTERACTIVE USA. No frills, no chills . . . Here's the engine comparison between new (in the background) and "washed" (in the foreground.) Remember that the wash can be manipulated so you choose how much or how little you want on there. You can go ALL OUT GUNK if you wanted by applying several coats of the wash.
