realgone58 Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Anybody out there that can make some custom decals up? I am building a series of old drag cars (Willys, Henry J, '40 Ford, etc) and I have a great ficticious race team name I'd like to use. I would like to do it in a vintage style font as well. Can anybody do this, or is there a computer program I could get affordably to design my own and print off on decal paper?
crazyjim Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 You must have missed the decal tutorial we had at FAST meeting, Al. Wayne Stevens. Jr. makes some great decals, but I don't know if he does them for anybody other than himself. You might want to check with him.
91blaze Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 It's pretty easy to make your own. A hobby store near you should carry decal paper and you spray clear over the decals after they're printed. If you don't want to buy a program to make the decals then you can use paint to make the decal you want and then transfer it over to a Word document and size it there. Using word to size the decals keeps the detail. This is what I did when I made some license plate decals.
Ace-Garageguy Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Bernard Kron has done some really nice custom logos and made decals for some of his builds, and I'm pretty sure he's discussed the how-tos as well. He's got a belly-tank lakes car project on here on the workbench right now.

I have to figure out a way to design the font that I want to use.
crazyjim Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 1000 free fonts. I don't remember the exact site so you'll have to google it.
