JamesW Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 I'm trying to finish up my rollback and want to know the best way to replicate high polished aluminum. Is there a paint (other than Alclad or Spaztix), or should I just use BMF?
Harry P. Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 This isn't a tip, trick or technique... it's a question. Please post in the correct section. I'm really getting tired of moving posts to where they were supposed to be posted...
JamesW Posted August 17, 2012 Author Posted August 17, 2012 Sorry Harry. I figured it would be best in the tips, tricks and techniques section because once I got an answer it would technically be an idea that others could use. LOL
mnwildpunk Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 I airbrush part with m.m. Aluminum then spay with testors semi-gloss clear. It really looks close IMHO
JamesW Posted August 17, 2012 Author Posted August 17, 2012 I don't have an airbrush, can't afford one.
Foxer Posted August 17, 2012 Posted August 17, 2012 You can do the same as Dave says with spray cans. I like Metalizer aluminum which comes in sprays. There are many clears in spray cans that will get the polished look for you.

Bartster Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 James, l've gotten pretty good results with Krylon brilliant silver, then dry buffing with good old Fruit of the looms! the cloths texture is smooth enough to not scratch, but rough enough to polish out nicely. Krylon is also fairly cheap & that big can goes a long way! Bart.
JamesW Posted August 18, 2012 Author Posted August 18, 2012 Hmm, I guess a trip to Walmart is in my future.
