Dr. Cranky Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 Mike, I thought they were sink marks too and I sanded them down a bit, but they are not. At least not after the paint went on and leveled everything out. I will have some progress pics shortly. The color is a combination of burgundy and stop light red. That's it. I love this color too and I've spoken to Donn about it. I think I would love to turn it into a (more orange) root beer color.
tyrone Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 I love the color on this one... everything is looking great... keep it coming..
Dr. Cranky Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 Thanks, Tyrone. More coming soon. I love the way the engine is turning out. Between the aftermarket parts and some watch parts gizmology, this one looks pretty cool.
Dr. Cranky Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 All right, this one is getting close to the mountain top: Got the body sanded, buffed, and polished. I really love this color . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 Working on the engine, the final details . . . so much to do, but I no longer feel like this build is in any kind of danger. I got a blemish on the valve cover on this side, but I have found a perfect way of fixing it, you'll see it in the next round of pictures . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 You can see several aftermarket parts here but also plenty of my favorites parts: WATCH PARTS.
Dr. Cranky Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 More progress, slow but deliberate . . . Working on detailing the interior . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 I still have to wire a few more things . . . this is one of the most detailed engines I've ever built, and I like it . . . like it, YOU HEAR THAT OLD MAN? Stay tuned in . . . for more . . . from the Lab-RAT-ory!
Kustom Rodder Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 Lookin really good Doc nice use of the watch parts.Well i hope you dont get to stressed out on this build you are doin really good on it .
Dr. Cranky Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 Mike, this one has fought me hard most of the way, but you figure by now I would be used to the stress of doing shiny. I actually have learned to enjoy it. It also helps to have a few other projects on the bench.
Dr. Cranky Posted August 31, 2012 Author Posted August 31, 2012 Thank you, Greg. It is and it's not difficult to work with it when it comes to getting it in and around the panel lines, etc . . .

Dr. Cranky Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 After a long day of progress, I am almost ready to declare this one finished. Tomorrow I will share the pictures . . . right now I just finished installing the seat belts (old fashion) and everything is good to go. Please stay tuned in for more pictures . . .
vintagedragfan Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 love it Doc! you should build more vintage drag cars!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 LOL, thanks, Bill, and then instead of working in a styrene Lab-RAT-ory, they will put me in a "home" for those touched by styrene lunacy and other ailments. Seriously, I love them and plan on building a few more.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 All, my friends, this one is done, and I got it done a day before schedule . . . which I am happy about. Enjoy these rounds of pics and let me know what you think. This will not be the last of these types of builds for me.
