sjordan2 Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Nope. Shabo and others sell tire decals that are much better looking than trying to paint the side wall details on a model tire. Well....that's not completely true. I guess I would but what I am saying is that for 6 or 7 bucks you can get enough tire decals or dry transfers to last at least as many models. I buy tire decals from a guy I know from another board. He sells them to be for 10 bucks for a 8 1/2 by 11 sheet of all different kinds of decals. Goodyear Polyglas, BFG T/A's, Wide Oval, Uniroyal.... And a lot of the aftermarket companies selling unlicensed decals and transfers have been shut down by the trademark owners' lawyers.
Terry Sumner Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 If I could get car model kits of the subjects I like that were comparable to the airplane kits I buy, I would be willing to pay a comparable price. I'm talking about hot rods, drag cars and the like because although there are some excellent kits of Ferraris and Gt cars and the like, I'm simply not into those types of car models. I can only dream of Tamiya doing a Willys or 32 Ford or Camaro or something like that! But if they did and the kit was as finely made and detailed as one of their airplane kits I'd be the first one in line to get one!
Tom Setzer Posted September 2, 2012 Posted September 2, 2012 (edited) Ok lets take this subject and go through it. 1: U.S. Model Cars, compared to Japanese Model Car Prices, Revell 1/25 model cars, average Price $25, Japanese 1/25 Model cars average price $50! You should get alot more in the Japanese kits! 2: Gas prices! Depending on where you live Federal, State, and Local Taxes are 64% to 71% of the price you pay for gas! 3: The liscense agreements are more to give the companies some control over the accuraacy of the products their name is being put on! eizzle Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I would Pay more if they came with correct tires. It seems most revell kit tires are way to narrow, with way to much sidewall! If they want to throw in a nice stance with it that would be awesome to!
charlie8575 Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Anyone remember American Satco? If somebody could get their hands on those molds we would be happy again. What about Alan at MA'S resin? When you stop to think about it........After you pay $5-6 per set of aftermarket,$1 more per kit doesn't seem that bad. Now on the other hand.... Tire details should be there already. AMT is doing wonderful with their approach on all this, why can't revellogram? What about the Cooper brand or Cyclone, whitch is made by Cooper? Let's hope they get the tires right in the upcoming ratroaster, and I think those are Coker tires anyway. When ya'll figure this one out let me know would ya? See my post on P. 1 regarding this matter.
