57peppershaker Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 I built a Monogram Dodge 440 6 pack years ago & never finished it due to not finding the wheels I wanted. Its now on the bench to be finished. What other kit would have plain steel wheels in 1;24 that would suit ? Or a resin co ?
mnwildpunk Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I think the monogram 70 road runner has plain steelies and dog dish hubby caps? I dig it out in the morning to verify.
Fat Brian Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 The most recent Road Runner with the orange car on the box does have the slotted steel wheels and hub caps.
greymack Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Hi there you might be better off finding some resin wheels to save on grief.
Yahshu Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I had some parts box Mopar steelies that I cast for mine, sorry but I don't remember what kit they were from. They are a fraction smaller than the ID of the kit tire but once glued to the wheel retainers theres no telling that they are a tad smaller. Sorry the pics not the best
Casey Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 What other kit would have plain steel wheels in 1;24 that would suit ? Or a resin co ? Are you using the kit-stock Goodyear Steel Belted Radial tires? If so, the rear steel wheels from the Revell '64 Ford T-bolt kits are a prefect fit, but you will need to add hub dust covers for the front two wheels:
VW Dave Posted October 15, 2012 Posted October 15, 2012 I think the monogram 70 road runner has plain steelies and dog dish hubby caps? I dig it out in the morning to verify. It does, but those are late 70's/early 80's cop car steelies; nice, but not accurate for a '70 B-body

I used the rears from th T-Bolt kit, perfect fit.
57peppershaker Posted October 19, 2012 Author Posted October 19, 2012 Oops, sorry for late reply guys. Yahshu, that pretty mush identicle to what I built (but mines still on axle stands lol) Casey, they look spot on. Are the rears different size to the fronts ? Dust caps wouldnt be a prob, & yes planned to use kit standard tyres.
hgbben Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 The Revell 68 Charger has steelies and dog dish hubcaps but I believe that is a 1/25 scale kit
