Gluhead Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Funny, I thought "Don't call it a rat rod" was the mantra of the traditional hot rodders, used out of frustration when the unedumakated or trendster masses call their period or period inspired hot rods by the dirty word. I'm with you, Craig. Might not be held together with bubblegum welds and duct tape, but it sure looks like a rat rod to me.
Jantrix Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Rat Rod has come to imply that a build is just a bunch of rusty junk parts slammed together...the builder of this rod views their product as more engineered, more thought out.. Agreed.
tubbs Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 I thought they were boat anchors............................. .... classic!!!
tubbs Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 just like here at work. people are getting too hung up on "titles"....... "rat rod", "pro touring", "pro street", "g-machine". i personally don't care, the guy enjoys it. to me, its a "rat rod". my personal opinion is that he should have left it the way it was!!
Jantrix Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 just like here at work. people are getting too hung up on "titles"....... " You think this is bad, you should see a thread when someone asks to have "hot rod, street rod, street machine" defined. People lose there freakin' minds over that one.
Craig Irwin Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 You think this is bad, you should see a thread when someone asks to have "hot rod, street rod, street machine" defined. People lose there freakin' minds over that one. Muscle car is even worse!
James2 Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 How about a Pro Rat Hot Street Rod Muscle Machine!
moparmagiclives Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 It's because "hot rod" is so not 2012.
Fabrux Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 Oops, my bad. Either way, a rat rod has an icky GM motor.
Gluhead Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 It's because "hot rod" is so not 2012. It's not? The H.A.M.B.. Just sayin'.
jcbigpaw Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 The term Rat Rod is too vague. If I take a model T and built a T-bucket it's a hot rod. If I build the same vehicle but use a non traditional body and bed (say a 50 Chevy truck) it's called a rat rod even if its fully finished and "shiny"?
