Alright guys - how do you store the spare parts that accumulate - from kits with extra bits or donors, etc...? I'm thinking either keep them in the original box, bag up in labeled baggies or toss into a giant container for future rummaging. I like the original box thing but could run out of space in time ... so maybe the baggies with a label as to what kit... or computerize into a database...

What do you guys do? Would love hear the different methods to this madness. ;)

Thanks!

I have couple of storage units that have a bunch of little drawers in them (small parts) and I cut down 2 liter RC bottles for larger parts. The tops make great funnels.

Pat - yeah that seems like the best option. I'd like to keep the boxes, too, tho. Would become confusing as to what was spare parts and unbuilt.

Jim - you must have a great memory or much knowledge to know what is what among all the loose parts in the drawers! Do you use any labeling?

Drawers are labeled - carbs, air filers, valve covers, etc. I have no idea what kits the parts came from. I have started using baby food plastic tubs for engines and wheels/tires that are labeled with the kits they came from. Bear in mind that I've been building since 1958, and what silly kid would have thought to keep the parts labeled? Zip lock bags even existed back then.

A lot of them I keep in their kit boxes. Not original, but effective.

Some go in the storage-drawer-type things. Some go in Ziplock/Gladware or similar containers.
