i added some strip evergreen to the sides of the hood to close the gap from where i gouged out the hood. a little more work is needed on the bottom of the hood.

my first attempt at adding hood hinges. way harder than expected. because of the way the hood opens i had to use tube so it could slide up to make the clearance needed to open.

this is about as far as it will open on display. i will clean up the messy area as soon as the glue sets up.

Ok. After a long break this is back on the table.

This is where she stands.

I found these at "walmarks"

They are called sew on snaps

6EDD06A4-5BB4-49CC-B541-BC0ED36B8868-948

They were a buck or two and look like the tops of coil overs. They wont be seen much on this model but look as if they would go great on any car that they are visable.

I was also given a old pontiac firebird that has an ls1 in it. The 1/25 engine drops in the 1/24 engine bay well. I just have to decide if i want to go that way or keep the rb26. The ls1 will be much easier.

I have also decided to go with the ts44 brilliant blue. I still may do the Calsonic decals. The kit ones are just to much.

Got some paint down

I just could not paint it one of the ugly colors datsun put iut in the 70's.

here it is with a rb26B9F9B8E7-5919-410A-B7FA-A1A961E7D3AF-169

And with a ls1

9D599EBC-5896-44F7-A9F3-4A8DD2F3D48D-169

Still have not nailed that choice down yet

Incredible work! Good choice keeping the engine Nissan. The amount of power to weight ratio with a turbocharged 6 cyl. is enough to make a V8 choke on your dust anyway.

Great color choice Gary, I would have liked the box paint scheme, but this looks really good on it, especially when you add the decals in!

Oh, and the Richmond show is not gonna happen for me, it's falling on my on-call weekend, so I can't make it...sucks!

Luis. The LS1 is back in it's box. Never to see the light of day again

Gary, that '55 looks great, so what are you worried about, you'll do fine. Besides, I didn't do all that well in Fayetteville if you recall, so it all comes down to what the judges at that particular show like!

Nice Gary. I've thought about doing a Datsun 240z with a V-8 myself, but man I have way too many ideas for builds rattling around in my empty skull as it is.

You're doing an excellent job on this! B)

At first I hated the idea of the V8, but after seeing it, it looks pretty awesome in there. BUT I still vote RB26. The front fenders, are they installed backwards? It seems like the front of the fender should be the slimmer part, but its back to the door.

The front fenders would only go on one way. They have notches cut out to fit the bumper and tabs at the bottom that complete the front spoiler.

But now that you mention it, it does look kinda strange.

Any way, thanks to everybody for looking and the kind comments
