cobraman Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 (edited) Next on the bench will be this 48 Ford. I have some plans for it but who knows what will happen when the building begins. You all know how that goes. It will be pretty much built out of the box with few mods if any. Looks like a pretty nice kit with plenty of options. Lets see if I can manage to not screw it up ! Space Cowboy Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Hey great kit with a lot of ideas you can do just about anything...I'm watching.....................
Renegade Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Great kit to start with. Look forward to seeing what you do with it.
cobraman Posted October 27, 2012 Author Posted October 27, 2012 Getting into the kit a litle bit by building some sub assemblies. I am a little disapointed to see that the engine halves included the oil pan. I would have perfered there be a seperate oil pan but no big deal I guess a little filler and sanding should fix that.
John Teresi Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Ray......looking forward to watching this one come together.
cobraman Posted October 27, 2012 Author Posted October 27, 2012 Thanks guys. I hope I don't disapoint. I decided on a look in my mind but I sometimes miss the mark. We shall see.
H.A.K Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Love that model. Never had one but love it nun the less.
cobraman Posted November 2, 2012 Author Posted November 2, 2012 Got some time to start working on this wip again. First off...... yes.... it's pink. Was not my first choice but while selecting paint my wife pointed this color out and said ' that's pretty ". Next thing you know I was painting this thing pink. You married fellows may understand. Still more to do on the body such as some touch ups to the paint and it still needs to be cleared. Don't care for the hub cap selection and I may go with some full wheel Moon type discs. We shall see.
Mark R Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I have to say the Silver and Pink combo looks good....I like it,keep it going !
cobraman Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Thanks Mark. Anyone want to weigh in on the wheel/hupcap choice ? In this photo you can see the 3 choices I have for this build. Any suggestions ? Thanks for looking.
crazyrichard Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 nice kit!! my wife does not give pointers to me conserning modelbuilding hubcaps > i would say the ones on the bottom left with the straight line popping out
cobraman Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 It works out even because I give my wife points on what I want for dinner. : )
nate47 Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 I think its gotta be the spinner bars, or the ones on the right, are those caddy? Most likely the spinner bars would be best! Keep up the good work!
cobraman Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Thanks Nate. Not sure if those caps are suposed to represent Caddy caps or not. They were included in the kit.
cobraman Posted November 4, 2012 Author Posted November 4, 2012 Cool Nate. The caps on the Merc sort of look like the ones in the 48 Ford kit.
cobraman Posted November 4, 2012 Author Posted November 4, 2012 Here is another small update to this build. I think it is coming along pretty good so far. Still lots to do but well on it's way. Body has been cleared and will be polished when it's time. Chassis almost done and interior is finished. Still not sure what hupcaps to run but will have to decide soon. This is a pretty nice kit but I think the 49 Merc is better. IMO.
