Scuderia Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 As I mentioned in a research thread, I hate the nose appearance of the SVO. With that being said I looked for options. I tried a radical piece from Martinfan that didn't look like it'd work and settled for this idea. I took a nose from a 93 cobra ebay gluebomb, modified the body by cutting off a lil extention on the body and gluing it on. It'll need sanding and putty to fill. The Hood is a Fox good with vents cut from the 1990 Grand Prix Turbo hood. It's there for test purposes mostly, although i may use it. I'd like to get it resin-cast but we'll see.
Intmd8r Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I like the direction of where the hood is going. Keep up the good work.
martinfan5 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I just about fell out chair when I saw you started a WIP thread
Scuderia Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 Lol i know right? i told you i was getting back to the bench soon. I even did a lot on my 70 Boss this weekend.
lanesteele240 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 did you get that kit at the hobby lobby in fayettville nc.
lanesteele240 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 reason im asking is they had one of those ferraris marked down because it had been opened and a ton of those svo kits
Scuderia Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 No I didn't i've never been to N.C. actually. I got it at a HL or a Michaels up here with a coupon a few months back.
lanesteele240 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 sorry. the one i was talking about had a tag on it that said opened, all parts included. it sounded like every part had been cut off the trees so i passes. the tag looked just like the one on your box. any way, good luck on this build.
martinfan5 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Well LG, its nice to see you back, I am thinking about giving it up myself
Scuderia Posted October 29, 2012 Author Posted October 29, 2012 That's what we all say. Without knowing, I'll guess: just dunk it in the purple soup, take a day off and revisit the situation later lol

The SVO wheels are ugly as butt. It'll be red with a black interior probably. I don't know off hand what colours SVO's came in I haven't looked it up yet. I see what people were saying about the 87 Turbo coupe engine and things being better for this. This engine in here looks bland in comparison.
Scuderia Posted November 2, 2012 Author Posted November 2, 2012 A small bit of progress here. Got the hose sanded up and some panel lines deepened at the rear, on the hatch. Got it in primer to check out what i need to do on the driver-side to sand up. Did some touch-up on the custom hood as well.
IMSANUT Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Looks like it is gonna be a cool one! Do you have plans for the SVO four cylinder?
Scuderia Posted November 2, 2012 Author Posted November 2, 2012 Right now I'm undecided. Its either the box SVO engine, or the 87 Thunderbird TC engine which looks better. (IMO)
Scuderia Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Was able to get some focused progress in this evening. Fixed up my nose to the best of my ability and laid some red down. Chassis and exhaust are in, but seem simple. I'm considering SOME wiring underneath but don't know where to start.
Scuderia Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Thanks... There's like NO parts to this kit. It could be a weekend builder really lol. I'm trying to find other ways to spice it up a bit.
martinfan5 Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 Brake lines would help with the chassis, maybe some engine/ engine compartment wiring would help a little bit
Scuderia Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Yeah that 87 TC I ordered this morning will supply the go-go. The turbo in this kit isn't as inspiring visually as the one they tooled for the Thunderbird. I'll do some wires and what-not once i get to motor stage.
Scuderia Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Yes, but the tooling is more detailed. it looks so much beter.
martinfan5 Posted November 3, 2012 Posted November 3, 2012 You know what look better, the engine from one the 2007/2010 GT500 kits
