Geno Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 (edited) Just getting started but I'm excited about this build. I'm actually combining parts from the Street fighter kit and a diecast model. Plus the big block and other bits from a Monogram '70 Chevelle. Edited December 8, 2012 by Geno
Space Cowboy Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Hey Geno it looks like a great project...............................
Bartster Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Geno, l can't wait! This is the 1st kit l ever built & l recently aquired a repop to re-live this kit. l love the "factory" grille work. Any power plant thoughts? Bart.
Gothic Kustomz Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 (edited) Quick silver, street fighter, bad actor, all in the same, tho i dont remeber which had the window on top like yours, but this looks like a good project... Edited November 11, 2012 by Gothic Kustomz
Geno Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 Bart, I'm using the 454 out of the Chevelle kit.
traditional Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 Hi Geno, Looks like it's going to be a fun build. Glad to see you're getting back to modelling, and also happy to see you're going to use whatever materials are available to make an interesting model. Cliffo
Geno Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 Cliff, hello my friend. Yes, I'm happy to be back too. This is a lot of fun. Hope to see you and Larry soon, I always have a great time when we can all get together and talk cars.
Dave Wood Posted November 11, 2012 Posted November 11, 2012 I Love Long Roofs I'll be watching this one for sure!
Geno Posted November 11, 2012 Author Posted November 11, 2012 Thanks all, any cool suggestions and ideas are always welcome.
Geno Posted November 13, 2012 Author Posted November 13, 2012 I posted this in the want ads but does anyone have the clear glass to fit this model? Actually all I need is the windsheild. Thanks.
Jantrix Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I have this kit too with the red glass. I wish there was someone after market making clear windshields for this one.
Geno Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 Here's the dash. I didn't like the plain flat dash with just the tach, so I cut out an opening and grafted the panel in from a '59 Chevy dash. it's just roughed in right now but it'll get there.
Car Crazy 81 Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Great start on the wagon, Geno i'd just finished one myself. I'll be following this one.
Psychographic Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 I posted this in the want ads but does anyone have the clear glass to fit this model? Actually all I need is the windsheild. Thanks. PM sent. Do you have the red glass?
Geno Posted November 16, 2012 Author Posted November 16, 2012 (edited) Thanks Rick, I'll post as I progress. Great start on the wagon, Geno i'd just finished one myself. I'll be following this one. Yes Dave, I have the red glass. PM sent. Do you have the red glass? Edited November 16, 2012 by Geno
Fabrux Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 The Revell 1960 Impala is a great donor for this. I'm doing the same project only with a Jimmy Flintstone resin body.
Geno Posted November 19, 2012 Author Posted November 19, 2012 (edited) Ok, I've got the color on. I used Model Master #28141 Sterling Silver Metallic Lacquer. I plan on using the 1834 Wet Look Clear Lacquer. Should I wet sand before applying the clear or shoot a coat of clear then wet sand? I was going to shoot the clear, wet sand and apply the decals then clear it again. What would you all suggest as the best method? Thanks, Geno. Edited November 19, 2012 by Geno
FASTBACK340 Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 (edited) Sand & polish the clear. Then add decals, clear again, and carefully clean-up the polishing you already did. Edited November 19, 2012 by FASTBACK340
Geno Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 Thanks Dave. I'll have yours in the mail Friday.
