Mike Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 (edited) Has anyone built a car from a TV show or movie? Let's see everyone's TV and movie car replicas! Here's my Cannonball Run ambulance complete with JJ and "Him" (Captain Chaos) characters. The build currently resides in Colorado on my friend's work desk as I built it as a gift (long story). The figures are from Scale Equipment and the movie backdrop was custom made on my computer. Anyway, here it is - Edited August 26, 2007 by Mike
crispy Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 Hopefully Fotki is working! Here is my Miami Vice Daytona: Chris
Dave Van Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 I have a bunch but not many on the net....here are a few.... F&F III Monte Carlo before the wreck. Correct wheels and tires and many details altered to match the movie car rather than the mess AMT had. Added a 'outlaw' hood later after a LONG wait from a resin caster. I also lowered the back a bit...had too much air in the shocks! lets see if anyone can guess this one.... Tina Turner's Chairiot from Mad Max III Thunderdome..... Built like the 1/1 with a 70's era truck chassis and a bunch of stuff!!!
Steve H. Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 One of my favorite cars of all time... The 60's era Batmobile!
Dave McFly Posted August 26, 2007 Posted August 26, 2007 i am also a fellow bulider of tv and movie cars. but alas i don't have pictures of my previous builds. here is one i did as a quickie. the police car from RoboCop. the kit is box stock painted flat black with flat gray interior. the lightbar came off of the Impala snapper police car kit but painted the chrome parts black.

Modellpularn Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 (edited) Thought I'd shown this one on a number of forums before, but here goes: it's my replica of the 'Vette from "Corvette Summer". Edited September 23, 2007 by Modellpularn
Dave McFly Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Thought I'd shown this one on a number of forums before, but here goes: it's my replica of the 'Vette from "Corvette Summer". DUDE! where did you get that model? is it a real kit, or resin, details man details!
Guest rick r Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 No pics, just a minor challenge based on the availability of new reference material and a readily available kit. Anyone ever thought of using the revell '71 Cuda convertible kit to replicate the 'cudas used for three seasons of Mannix? The series was a staple for many of us for many years, and the cars were part of the show's charm. JAIRUS HAS A DISC OF SEVERAL EPISODES, PERHAPS HE CAN ISOLATE SOME IMAGES... ( ask nicely...) FYI, the cars were '70-72 'Cuda 'verts, dark green w/black interiors and tops, crankwindows, Magnum rims, blackwall tires, and chrome door mirrors. The '71s did not have the fender louvers, and one of the '71 cars had repositioned driving lights to make way for towbar mounts. These cars were mightily abused, since most of Joe Mannix's adventures predated the Rockford Academy of Onscreen Driving by a few years. There are an abundance of opportunities for imaginative builders of this subject... ANY TAKERS?
Guest rick r Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 seeing that the famous Caddy is here....I'll post mine here too BITCHIN' ELEANOR!!! I was fortunate tomeet Toby Halicki before his death, he woulda loved this model!
Modellpularn Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 (edited) DUDE! where did you get that model? is it a real kit, or resin, details man details! Well Dave, do you want the short or the long version? Since you wanted details...... "Once upon a time....." It all started in 1978 when I attended a Classic Chevy Convention in Memphis. One night some friends and I went to a local movie theatre. They showed "Grease" and "Corvette Summer" We saw both. About a year later, "Corvette Summer" appeared on movie theatres in Sweden. I got the idea of building the car as a model. But the Corvette script in the taillight had me stumped. One night I was tinkering with a 1/8 scale '65 Vette, and found the rear trim/nameplate. It was the perfect size! I started with an AMT '76 Vette, then scratchbuilt the front and rear ends, hood scoop and fender flares. Front spoiler came from Monogram's "SS Corvette" as did the clear roof panel, cut in half and made into "Moon Roofs" Various kits supplied the remaining parts. The paint job was done using all Pactra paint; Gold base, Candy Pagan Gold, Candy Red, and of course clear coats. The masking was a bit of a nightmare! I used very very thin tape. Took me many hours.... I know it's not 100% perfect - if you want to be very picky..... the interior was covered in red and yellow crushed velvet, I painted it black..... That's basically the whole story. I got it finished just in time for the model contest at the annual Hot Rod Show 1980 here In Stockholm. I won 1st place Custom Model. And it has picked up a number of awards over the years. Brought it to the NNL in Toledo in '92. Jimmy Flintstone liked it, and wanted to make a resin copy of it. But how would it look after he was done with it??? I think not.... Edited September 25, 2007 by Modellpularn
