Scottnkat Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Well, here's my version of Kurt Busch's 2012 COT car driven at Talladega. The kit started out as Dale Earnhardt, Jr's #88 2010 Chevy Impala kit. I added missing bars from the rollcage, wired the ignition modules, used a resin nose for the car, and used decals by Stoney's Customs. The kids have been wanting me to build this for a while, so they're happy that it's done.
martinfan5 Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Nice job, who's resin nose piece did you use?, there are a few people making them?
Scottnkat Posted December 20, 2012 Author Posted December 20, 2012 I think it was the Mobay piece - got it from Mike's Decals
Scuderia Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Kurt had some good drives in that 51 car through the season. This was my fav of his car schemes of course lol. Nicely done on your version!
bbowser Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 Looks very nice Scott. Love the extra detailing on the dash boxes, good job on the decals.
topher5150 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 So was this an actual car that was raced or just a model build based off of the movie?
Scottnkat Posted February 6, 2013 Author Posted February 6, 2013 It was actually raced at Talladega in 2012. From what I understand, Kurt had to get approvals from lots of people to use the scheme. My favorite part of the race is when one of the announcers said, "Oh, I've been wanting to say this all night: And Ricky Bobby takes the lead!"
