IMPALA SS 427 Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Well i had a BTTF delorean that i did but i bought it as a built kit and rebuilt it and was never 100% happy with it... so I am rebuilding a rebuild and it will be stock.
IMPALA SS 427 Posted December 23, 2012 Author Posted December 23, 2012 it will have opening doors trunk and hood and i plan on making it very detailed but as I'm working between 5 builds it could be a bit slow....
GeeBee Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Looking forward to seeing more of this build, BTTF is one of my favorite film triology, not sure which one os my favorite, but I've always wanted to build a stock DeLorean ....
Dirkpitt289 Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Loved the movies and love the car even more. I'll be watching this one
Dominik Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Cool! The same "endlesswork" i started about a half year ago - i also want to have a stock DeLorean. If you do not mind, i show you a picture from my current state: I if it bothers you, then I remove the picture again. I removed both doors and i am not sure, to open the front lid. I will look on your fingers - doesn't matter, how long it takes
72 Charger Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Cool I have been doing the very same thing to a De lorean .Ive replaced the A posts with brass rod becuse as you know they are very very thin ! Mine has been stored for years now dew to no refrence pics you've done a great job so far . I think they had renault running gear in them ? I will be watching this for sure
IMPALA SS 427 Posted December 26, 2012 Author Posted December 26, 2012 Thanks everyone. Nice work on yours Dominik, Its good to see pics of someone elses build as it will help me down the track. I work on my Delorean when I am taking a break or waiting for parts with my other builds. so its a project that will be slow going but will be well worth the time and work in the end.
Dominik Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Thank you James. This build takes a long time - and needs a lot of motivation. More than "stock" builds. David, you are right. They took a Renault V-6 engine out of the concern called "PSA". It was a "million-built"-engine, nothing special.
crazyrichard Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 re also matt grey ones that are not suited and only give a extreme matt grey (rel dark grey) look i believe motip is well known in the world this looks like the metallic greay version
sjordan2 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Try the Model Master buffing metallizer paints.

robiwon Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 (edited) One of my favorite cars! Looking forward to your builds. Years ago, someone offered a stock resin Delorean body for the AMT kit. Don't remember who though. I always wanted one but never got around to it. Edited December 26, 2012 by robiwon
IMPALA SS 427 Posted December 29, 2012 Author Posted December 29, 2012 Thanks everyone. I might give those metallizer paints a go when (if ever) I get the body to the paint stage.
