Fabrux Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 With my massive stash of three 64 Dodge 330s, two Color Me Gones, and one 64 Plymouth Belvedere Paul Goldsmith stock car, I thought I would start mix-and-matching bits and pieces and come up with something interesting. I'm building a Belvedere drag car, not sure if it will be a weekend warrior or a pro car just yet. Rather than the new-for-64 426 Hemi I thought I would switch it up and build something a smaller, less-well-funded team could come up with. This car is sporting the 392 Hemi from the AMT 57 Chrysler 300C (which also donated its wheel covers). The four-speed stick is from the Belvedere. All the suspension pieces have come from a Color Me Gone kit, which also donated its wheels and will provide the roll bar as well. I'm going to use the bucket seats from the regular 64 Dodge 330 and the interior from the Belvedere.
Fabrux Posted December 26, 2012 Author Posted December 26, 2012 Oh, and for the mods: I wasn't entirely sure if this build should go here or in the Drag section. If I do a weekend warrior, would it stay here? A named car in the Drag section?
W-409 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 (edited) I think it would fit nicely to Drag-section. It's a Drag Racer, doesn't matter if it's a Pro Modified or Weekend Warrior. But anyway, in On The Workbench, or Drag Racing Models, I will follow it surely. Just change the wheels (or hubcaps), no one use those really, all are lightweight Aluminium wheels. Otherwise it's looking excellent, I like the different engine choice. What's wrong, I posted this one and only the first sentence was saved, all other dissapeared. Now I had to write it again. Bartster Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 l'll be watching this one for sure ! l love these mid '60s Mopars & have several going right now. Please keep up this build. Bart
Fabrux Posted December 26, 2012 Author Posted December 26, 2012 How about some different rolling stock? Rears are from AMT 33 Willys and fronts are from AMT/MK 69 GTO Funny Car.
Bartster Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 That looks much better ! I'm building a "weekend warrior" from this kit as well & as of now am using the TTs from a Revell '32 Ford. l hope you keep that stance, it looks fast already !
Fabrux Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 I have the interior sorted out. Belvedere floor, panels, and dash; 330 seats, and; Color Me Gone roll bar. I haven't decided yet if I should put in a back seat; the Color Me Gone car has one but I would think that for drag racing you would want to eliminate that extra weight? I haven't started painting anything yet as I want to try out the Vallejo paint line that my LHS owner/club member/friend raves about. Might be a few days before I can get up to his shop to get some colours to try.
slusher Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 You have some really cool ideas, l am very interested in the progress..
