cobraman Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Hey guys. I may be in need of a gasser type front suspension for a 1/16 car I may possibly build. Does anyone know of a kit one or an after market one ? I had no luck searching so far. I have made some 1/25 ones with sheet plastic and aluminum tube for the axel but not sure the plastic would hold up on a larger heavier build. What would be the best material to use for the springs if I have to make them ? Thanks
greymack Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Hi there well if your going to build a aluminum straight axle why not make the leaf springs out of the same material or sheet metal?
cobraman Posted December 28, 2012 Author Posted December 28, 2012 That may be worth a try if I cant find some springs the right size.
southpier Posted December 29, 2012 Posted December 29, 2012 this may get you somewhere: http://straightlinemodeler.org/straxles.html
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 A single strip of .030" brass with eyes soldered or CAA glued to the ends should hold the weight and look close to scale in 1/16. Used for the main leaf, the rest of the leaves could be built up as you would normally, with styrene strips.
