Is there a way to remove the transparent red from parts such as taillights? I need to take taillights like these

to ones that look like this

The only way you can get clear lenses is to make a mold of your existing tail lights and cast them with clear resin. There's no way to remove the red in transparent lenses since they are molded in red.

In 99% of the models I've seen, ( thousands) the transparent red pigment is mixed into the clear styrene the parts are molded from. To be sure, break or cut through the sprue the parts came on. If it's red all the way through, you're out of luck and will have to make molds and reproduce the parts in clear resin, as suggested above.

Not sure if it will work on the dye they put into the plastic to make it red but for the HO stuff on the hard bodys we use to use Oops and soak the body in that and it pulled all the color dyes out of the plastic with out messing with the body so it could be painted again. This let us also keep the bodys really light at the time.
