captin Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 (edited) Here is my next project a 49 mercury done the cranky way. my vision came from the fifth element don't no if anyone has seen that movie but Bruce willis drives a taxi cab in the future and it reminded me of this car. so what Im planning on doing is taking this 49 mercury and making it a taxi cab from hell. scalemodelworld Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Fifth Element was an awesome movie Chris. Can't wait to see what your mods look like!
72 Charger Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 This should be realy cool I love the film and the merc should be a good starting point for the taxi ! Are you going to do it before leluo goes through the roof ?
captin Posted January 16, 2013 Author Posted January 16, 2013 Good im glad im not the only one who has watched that movie and it is a great movie. and no i don't think im gonna have lelou through the roof lol.
72 Charger Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 I watch it every time its on tv and Ive always fancyed doing a model of it but thats as far as I got lol .
Tom Geiger Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Oh go for it! I haven't seen the movie but my favorite movie taxi is Ernest Bornine driving the old Checker in Escape from New York. "I've been driving a cab in this town for 30 years, same cab too!"
captin Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 Here is a picture i drew of the "taxi BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH from hell" 49 merc. Its just a rough sketch not very detailed but i wanted to see how it would look and from just the drawing its just how i envisioned it, just add a little rust here and there some burn marks since its a taxi from hell.
rel14 Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Before,,,,, Or after it got shot to pieces and a girl fell throw the roof ?? OR,, one of each, before and after,,,
captin Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 Haha nice i think before. man i was worried that no one would have seen that movie.... but it looks like i was the only one who didn't see it
captin Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 (edited) Taxi is a primed. went with the ruddy brown since its gonna be weathered. have to have a couple of bullet holes in there, and took the fender skirts and made some rust threws on them. the engine i was thinking of keeping it the rusty primer color then just adding the chrome peace to it but not sure yet. and the wheels will be black instead of the chrome. hope you like so far. O and I've decide to change the name of the build from taxi crappy to TAXI RAT. i like the sounds of that better i wish there was some way to change the topic title o well. scalemodelworld Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Coming along nicely. I'm keeping my eye on this one!
captin Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 Here is the upper half of my taxi rat all rusted up so far the bottom half i believe im gonna do a flat black. Im hoping that when i tape up my model to do that bottom half that the tape doesn't rip off my yellow top half fingers crossed i guess..
Tom Geiger Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Nice project, I'm following along. I'll bet you already know that the taxi cab checkerboards are in the Revell '37 Ford pickup kit, the first release with the Checkers Market scheme.
captin Posted January 25, 2013 Author Posted January 25, 2013 I actually didn't know that, i just looked it up and saw that the 37 ford pickup does have the checkers that is very helpful. i wasn't quite sure how i was going to do the checkers but this helps me out big time thank you Tom
captin Posted January 25, 2013 Author Posted January 25, 2013 Thanks guys im hoping to get the bottom half painted this weekend depending on the weather that is
captin Posted January 27, 2013 Author Posted January 27, 2013 Painted the bottom half with a flat black. and im wishing i would of decanted the yellow i used for the top and used the airbrush. that flat black when on so much smoother than the yellow, o well i guess you live and you learn. other than that it turned out fairly nice for a car that takes daily trips to hell. Im working on putting some metal looking bars which are actually toothpicks acrossed the windows so nobody tries to escape on there trip.
captin Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 Starting to look like a true taxi from hell now!!
captin Posted February 1, 2013 Author Posted February 1, 2013 Thanks tony this is the first merc. that I've built and im enjoying this kit..
