Scale-Master Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 A pair of Porsches that won Le Mans in 1986 (#1) and 1987 (#17). Both are old 1/43rd Starter resin kits built out-of-the-box.
bbowser Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Awesome models. These Porsches tore up the circuit back in the day. Great job.
RatRod Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Beautiful builds Mark!!! I used to build tons of 43rd kits, not so much these days. The Starter kits were not the greatest, but they did build up nice models with a little effort, and they kitted many of the great Groupe C, IMSA GTP cars of the day.
lotno249 Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Yes! Great resin kits. Great looking models. Amazing stuff. Great job. DJ
Simon Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 These look excellent. The Rothmans Porsche Group C cars are a fond memory from childhood, they were superstar cars in their day. Well done for turning these out so well.
CAL Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Nice pair of 962s. Still considered superstars, probably on of the all time great sport cars that dominated everthing for more the a decade.
acmiaz Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Mark, Nice job on those two Starter kits especially the decal,s age isn't kind to their decals sometimes. Question did you do the art work on the Scale Master Decals that were in the Precision Miniature 1/43 kits? Mark
Scale-Master Posted January 29, 2013 Author Posted January 29, 2013 Mark, Nice job on those two Starter kits especially the decal,s age isn't kind to their decals sometimes. Question did you do the art work on the Scale Master Decals that were in the Precision Miniature 1/43 kits? Mark Yes, I worked at Precision Miniatures and did much of the white metal casting as well as some instructions and decal artwork. Same Scale-Master… Interestingly on these two models, they both shared the same decal sheet. But the older (1986) kit had better printed colors and they did not crack. The one year later issue had a different blue and the decals cracked quite a bit. You just never know until they hit the water...
