935k3 Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 A few mor pics with scratchbuilt roll cage installed and the exhaust shield installed;
A.R.C. Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 F-40 are such a bad bad car! My favorite Ferrari. Nice work so far.
Plasticfanatic Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 SUPERB, the engine unit is a beauty in itself, can't wait to see more updates.
Chillyb1 Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 You are doing a superb job with this kit. I built and found it challenging but rewarding. Looks great when completed. Are you going to paint the red or use the decals?
Shelby 427 1965 Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Looking fantastic! I built this kit too - please be careful of a fitment issue on the rear hatch, it doesn't go on properly.

935k3 Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 (edited) Looking fantastic! I built this kit too - please be careful of a fitment issue on the rear hatch, it doesn't go on properly. I know this kit is famous for that. I did allot of work to fix that including getting rid of the mounting post that attach cahsssis to the body. I then made that air intake at the back of the side window one piece as on the real car. I also covered that stupid notch in that area. Some plastic was added to make it fit better. Ace-Garageguy Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Yes, sweet, clean work. I especially like the slight scuffing effect on the (PE?) brake rotor faces...very realistic.
scalemodelworld Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Awesome looking build. Your detailing is amazing. I agree with Bill about the brakes, and the interior detail is the best I've ever seen.
935k3 Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 The brakes are photo-etch sanded in a circular motion with 1000 grit sand paper.
Kennyboy Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Beautiful work on an amazing car. I have the Protar 1:12 F40 in my collection of "not finished" and builds like this are an inspiration to pull it out and get back to work on it.
GoatGuy Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Looks great so far. Looking forward to more updates.
surfjunke Posted February 4, 2013 Posted February 4, 2013 Beautiful work! Very clean & nicely detailed.
